OnePlus confirmed that it is working on a mid-range phone, with the device dubbed the OnePlus Z. The verdict is still out whether it will be called the OnePlus Z or the OnePlus 8 Lite, but what we can reveal is that the phone will be unveiled on July 10 in India.
India is OnePlus' largest market, so it makes sense for the Chinese manufacturer to unveil the phone in the country. Earlier leaks of the OnePlus Z hinted at a July launch, and a reliable source within the company confirmed the date is July 10. This could obviously change given the current state of things — the OnePlus 8 launch event was pushed back twice — but for now, July 10 is the tentative date for the unveil.
Numerous leaks over the last few weeks have given us a detailed look at the specs of the OnePlus Z. The phone is slated to feature a 6.55-inch 90Hz AMOLED display, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage for the base model, and a 48MP camera at the back along with a 16MP wide-angle lens and a 2MP macro module.
According to a leaked survey (via XDA), the OnePlus Z may retail for as low as ₹24,990 ($330). That's ₹17,000 ($224) less than the base version of the OnePlus 8, so it will be interesting to see if OnePlus will indeed offer the OnePlus Z at such an affordable price.
